Co-firing of high-ash discard coal and refuse-derived fuel - ash and gaseous emissions

چکیده

This research focuses on the co-firing of discard coal with refuse-derived fuel (RDF) to utilize this abundant resource in South Africa for energy generation and reduce volume waste disposed at landfills. The potential a high ash content (> 40%), which is grade used some power stations Africa, its combustion compatibility two different RDFs terms emission reductions has been established. Gaseous emissions residues from co-combustion coal, coal/RDF blends proportion were analysed. One RDF samples contained mostly paper (PB) other plastic (PL). Co-combustion showed decrease chloride alkali metal contents as ratio blend increased. slagging propensity co-fired was found be very low, while fouling decreased medium all < 75% RDF. SO2 387 ppm (discard coal) 50 sample containing 25% plus PL. A 15% PL 85% also reduced NOx 145 (100% PL) 88 ppm. lowest CO2 observed 6000 PB. It established that most favourable can produce sulphur if sample.

Evaluation of Coal Waste Ash and Rice Husk Ash on Properties of Pervious Concrete Pavement

The use of pervious concrete has been significantly considered in recent years. This consideration is due to the properties of pervious concrete in relating to the environmental sustainability that is utilized in the effective management of the runoff from rainfall. Coal extraction and rice husk obtained from milling, produces wastes that have no application and followed by environmental pollut...

Optimizing and Characterizing Geopolymers from Ternary Blend of Philippine Coal Fly Ash, Coal Bottom Ash and Rice Hull Ash

Geopolymers are inorganic polymers formed from the alkaline activation of amorphous alumino-silicate materials resulting in a three-dimensional polymeric network. As a class of materials, it is seen to have the potential of replacing ordinary Portland cement (OPC), which for more than a hundred years has been the binder of choice for structural and building applications. Geopolymers have emerge...

Fugitive Emissions from a Dry Coal Fly Ash Storage Pile

Standardized estimates of fugitive emissions resulting from bulk materials handling are subject to many potential uncertainties based on the material of interest, the specifics of operational handling, and local geography and meteorology. In 2011 EPRI undertook the first of 3 phases of a field monitoring study at a power plant that investigated fugitive emissions of PM2.5 and PM10-2.5 (“PMc” fo...

Questioning coal ash deregulation.

Each year, 115 million tons of coal combustion products (CCPs) are produced in the United States, 90% of them by electric utilities. CCPs are mainly ash, usually mixed with wastes from pollution control scrubbers (consisting of particulate matter and neutralizing lime), coal piles, and other sources. In 1993, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) exempted pure coal ash from Subtitle C ...

Leachate Chemistry of Mixtures of Fly Ash and Alkaline Coal Refuse

In the past, acid mine drainage (AMD) associated with coal mining operations and the disposal of coal refuse have been a driving force behind research efforts on the properties of coal combustion products (CCPs) [1]. The results from research over the last 15 years clearly indicate that bulk-blended CCP has the potential to ameliorate AMD production in coal refuse as long as acid-base balance c...
